CAMTuning – Toyota Platforms

Applies to 4th Gen Tacoma, 6th Gen 4Runner and related Toyota platforms using the COBB Accessport.

BEFORE YOU START

  1. Connect the Accessport to your computer using the supplied USB cable.

  2. Open Accessport Manager and allow it to fully update.

  3. Confirm firmware is current before connecting to the vehicle.

Download Accessport Manager:

INITIAL INSTALL

CAN Bypass Harness

The CAN bypass harness is required for the initial install (and any reinstall after uninstall) to allow proper ECU programming.

Install the bypass harness per COBB’s instructions before beginning.

COBB Tuning's installation guide:

Begin Installation

  • Plug the Accessport into the vehicle.

  • Select Install.

  • Follow all on-screen instructions exactly.

  • Observe all key-off wait timers.

  • Do not interrupt power during flashing.

The battery charger warning may be ignored if the battery is healthy.

MAP SELECTION

For CAMTuning remote tuning setup, select:

Stage0 – Simulated Stock TCM v100
(or Stage1 if specifically instructed)

This establishes Accessport pairing and prepares the ECU/TCU for custom tuning.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING INSTALL

During flashing, the ECU:

  • Extracts and stores the factory calibration

  • Erases and rewrites calibration memory segments

  • Reinitializes required modules

  • Re-establishes CAN communication

Dash warnings and DTCs during this process are normal and temporary.

After installation, you may briefly see warnings related to secondary collision braking or other driver assist systems. These typically clear within a few minutes of driving.

POST-INSTALL CLEANUP

Before proceeding:

  • Key must be OFF

  • Accessport must be UNPLUGGED

Remove the bypass harness and reinstall the factory CAN terminator block.

Failure to reinstall the terminator block before cycling the key will result in network communication errors.

If this occurs:

  1. Reinstall the terminator block

  2. Key OFF

  3. On the Accessport:
    Tune → Change Current Map

  4. Re-select the same map to reset communication

Future flashing and datalogging are done directly through the OBD port.

UNINSTALL (FOR DEALER SERVICE)

The CAN bypass harness is not required for uninstall.

To return the vehicle to stock:

  1. Plug the Accessport into the OBD port

  2. Select Uninstall

  3. Follow on-screen prompts

The ECU and TCU will be restored to factory calibration and the Accessport will unpair from the vehicle.

REINSTALL AFTER DEALER VISIT

If the dealer updates the ECU or TCU:

  1. Perform the full initial install procedure again

  2. The CAN bypass harness is required

  3. Select your custom CAMTuning map when prompted

This ensures proper extraction and pairing with the updated calibration.

IMPORTANT: SET AUTO OFF

To prevent battery drain, configure Auto Off on the Accessport:
